nasher museum cafe
i totally regret not taking any pictures, but i had a delicious lunch at the nasher museum on thursday. it was only my second time there for lunch, but both instances were really good. it's a great alternative to the other food on campus, which all pretty much taste rather similar. and while it is more expensive than the average meal on campus, it's worth it. the lunch menu is sandwiches, burgers, soups, and salads, but they have interesting combinations. i had a proscuitto and gruyere sandwich with cucumber and apple jam? (can't remember exactly, but it had a sweet, fruity taste). then for dessert i had an iced chai that just topped it off. next time i go, i will definitely take pictures. not to mention the architecture of the nasher museum is awesome. best of all, it's on food points.

rue cler
i went to rue cler for the first time. it's a cute french cafe in downtown durham that i never knew existed until today. we had to wait thirty minutes for a table, but i have to say it was worth it, especially for the beignets. it wasn't too expensive either for a sunday brunch. the croque monsieur (lower picture) that i had was pretty good, particularly the ham and gruyere. the salad that came on the side got kind of heavy at the end, and i couldn't finish it. but the best part was definitely the beignets. they were kind of an afterthought order, but it was so warm, sweet, and not overly heavy. it definitely made my day. =)
